A $44,000 house from Home Depot sounds crazy until you remember people are paying $95,000 for pickup trucks.

That comparison is absolutely WILD.

One gets you a roof, walls, a bedroom, a bathroom, and somewhere to actually live.

The other gets you heated seats, a giant touchscreen, and a monthly payment that looks suspiciously like rent.

Now obviously the Home Depot price isn’t the entire cost of putting a finished house on a piece of land.

You’ve still got land, permits, foundation work, utilities, installation, and all the other fun stuff that shows up with construction.

But STILL.

We’ve officially reached the point where a prefab house can cost less than a loaded pickup truck.

And somehow the truck dealership will gladly finance the $95,000 truck for you before lunch.

DR Horton is the nations largest home builder and now plans are moving forward for 44 home development on Grandview Dr in Alexandria.

The current proposal calls for 43 detached single-family homes on roughly 31 acres, with less than half of the property disturbed.

Fellow short term rental owners:

Ever wonder why VRBO and Airbnb push you to do "Early booking" or "Early bird" specials?

Consider the fact that they collect at least some of the payment from the guest at booking (sometimes all of it) and don't disburse it to you until the day after check in.

So Airbnb and VRBO are holding MILLIONS of dollars in HOSTS money and holding it in an interest bearing account. EVEN IF THE GUEST CANCELS and they return that money, they still made money off of it.

Yet another of the many many reasons to have a direct booking website.

It seems like new subdivisions are going up everywhere in NKY. Is this a good thing or bad?

The Boone County Planning Commission has backed a proposal from Arlinghaus Builders to develop a 182-home subdivision on the site of the unrealized Baptist Convalescent Center.

On Aug. 5, the planning commission voted 11 to 1 to recommend approval of Arlinghaus Builders’ proposal to develop a new subdivision on a nearly 46-acre site along Burlington Pike, between Shady Hollow Lane and Springfield Boulevard. Get the details in the comments.
