💰 ACH vs. WIRE TRANSFER — They are NOT the same thing!
We get this question more often than you might think:
“Why can’t I just ACH the money? It’s coming directly from my bank.”
Because when it comes to a real estate closing, how the money arrives matters.
🏦 ACH TRANSFER
An ACH payment moves through the Automated Clearing House network. While the money may appear to have been deposited, ACH transactions can involve processing delays and, under certain circumstances, can be returned or reversed after they appear in an account.
⚡ WIRE TRANSFER
A wire is sent bank-to-bank through the wire system. Once the receiving bank confirms receipt and the funds are available, it provides the level of finality we need before disbursing a real estate transaction.
That distinction is VERY important when your closing depends on those funds.
At 5 Star Title Group Inc., we require closing funds to be sent by wire transfer rather than ACH because we need to know the funds are received and available for disbursement before we release proceeds, pay off mortgages, record documents, or send money to other parties.
🚨 AND THIS IS IMPORTANT: 5 STAR TITLE DOES NOT EMAIL WIRE INSTRUCTIONS.
Our wire instructions are provided through ClosingLock, our secure closing portal.
If you ever receive an email that appears to be from us containing wiring instructions or telling you that our wiring instructions have changed — STOP. DO NOT SEND MONEY. CALL OUR OFFICE.
Wire fraud is very real, and criminals can make an email look incredibly convincing.
🔐 Secure portal. Verified instructions. Wire transfer.
When you're dealing with someone's life savings, there is no such thing as being too careful.
At 5 Star Title Group Inc., our job isn't just to get you closed — it's to help protect your money along the way. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
