For 35 years I’d heard about Kings Island, but somehow I’d never been. Yesterday we finally changed that.

I’ll admit, I expected it to feel like a smaller version of Cedar Point. While it is smaller, it definitely doesn’t disappoint. The ride waits were short, the coasters were outstanding, and the weather couldn’t have been much better.

But the best part wasn’t the rides. It was spending the day making memories with family and friends. Watching the kids laugh, riding roller coasters together, and simply enjoying a summer day reminded me that experiences like these are what they’ll remember years from now.

Kings Island… you exceeded my expectations.

Yesterday I made a quick trip up to Detroit to spend time with two great friends.

My first stop was Red Run Country Club to play golf with Ken Hirschmann. It was my first 18 holes of the year, and it was HOT.

Ken was kind enough to give me 9 strokes. Sandbagger.

Turns out he didn’t need them. I watched him make par on 10 straight holes and finish with a 78. I’ll just leave it at that. I also managed to lose my $100 bill, so I’d say he won in more ways than one.

After golf, I headed over to Curt Shewell’s home for a few hours. Every time I’m there, he treats me like family. We caught up on life, enjoyed a little special bourbon, and just slowed down for a while. It’s hard to imagine a trip to Detroit that doesn’t include a visit with Curt.

Grateful for the friendships. Until next time, Detroit.

Your team is set to 71 degrees and you're wondering why nobody is producing.

Austin ran his team at 77. Uncomfortable on purpose. Minimum 12 deals a year to stay. 75% attendance on lead-gen blocks or you were off the team. He let a 100-deal agent go because they couldn't show up. The top people stay when you raise the bar. They leave when you stop.

The whole production engine was database, sphere, and referral. Twenty-five agents. Five hundred plus transactions a year. Monday through Thursday, eight to ten, three weeks a month. Never bought a lead.

And a money rule most team leaders miss. When you stop selling and hand a buyer to your buyer's agent, you should be getting a referral fee plus the team split. Two companies, one paycheck is how the money slips through the floor.

This is episode one of Winning Twice with Austin Cheviron. How to win twice in work and in life.

Your edge isn't talent. It's secure attachment.

Jairek Robbins started his first real business at 22 with zero experience, no mentor, and no clear path. He read a binder on starting a business, Googled sole proprietorship, called Merchant Warehouse, signed his first client by Monday morning. The willingness to fumble forward came from one thing his mother built into him as a child.

Secure attachment.

It's the safety to speak your mind and fail readily without dreading the consequence. Two tests measure it. Can a child speak truth and not be penalized for it? Can they fail epically, stand up, dust off, and come back? If both answers are yes, secure attachment is doing its job.

Kids who can fail in front of their parents become adults who can fail in front of markets.

If you missed it growing up, you can still build it backward into yourself. Give yourself permission to speak truth and fail forward. The work shows up everywhere. In business, in marriage, in fatherhood.

Austin almost didn't do this podcast. His first response was hell no.

Then his friend Randy called and introduced him to Apex Podcast Co.

When his producer Brett read Austin's first book, two words kept appearing:

"Winning twice."

Borrowed from Dr. Joe Currier's "Win Twice Power Advantage" — real success means achieving harmony between personal vision and financial goals. Both at once.

"Running 80, 90, 100 hours a week was normal, because it was all I knew."

Nate's biggest entrepreneur lesson:

"A fish knows he's in water last."

If you've never known anything but the way you're operating, you can't see the water around you. The boundaries you need today are the ones you'll wish you'd set yesterday.

30 to 50 people. Every Saturday night. Five o'clock. For over 25 years.

Grandma Cheviron cooked for the entire family. The grandkids, Austin and Nate among them, grew up watching consistency become the only thing that mattered.

"It wasn't the food. It was the table being set, every week, for a quarter century. That's what built the family."

Four to five companies. Most shut down or sold. Cheviron Group hit #3 in the country in 2023.

Then they pared it down to go all-in on coaching. Nate stepped back to be present for his six kids.

"Most people are fighting to make life a straight line. It's not."

Pivot is the word.

88 home sales by referral. 38.5 hours a week. 12 vacations.

When Austin's company asked "how did you go from #100 to #1?" — the secret wasn't hustle. It was the system.

He spent three years training his competition on something he'd built without quite knowing what it was.

Les Brown said: "If you do what's easy, life will be hard. If you do what's hard, life will become easy."
