In 2021 I was working with first time homebuyers who were renting in NYC. They were a vibrant newly married couple, expecting their first baby the following year. The New Jersey housing market was, and still is, absolutely mind blowing. We were looking in SOMA (South Orange Maplewood) for 6+ months. There was one house in the Tuxedo Park section of South Orange that my peeps loved. We offered CASH and $200,000 above list price but our offer was still beat. If I remember correctly, the home was listed for $749k and sold for $999,000 🤯. After our offer was rejected on this home, I started knocking on the neighbors doors letting them know about my buyers offer so if they were ever interested they could give me a call and my buyers could get an off market deal.
My buyers ended up buying in a different section in Maplewood and are living their absolute best suburban life.
Fast forward to the end of 2023, I get a phone call from a seller who saved my business card and asked me to sell her house (linked below!!) Unfortunately, I had already moved to NC by then. (She actually is from Greensboro). I decided to introduce her to Elizabeth Vaynerchuk Novello and they took off running.
All is to say, you never know, and life is crazy.
