Some of the Best Hikes in Phoenix & Surrounding Areas: Season 2026 Version! Happy Trails! 🥾🌵

Hiking season is calling, and these 4 trails show off the Valley at its best. Pick your favorite and go early. 👇

⛰️ Camelback Mountain (Echo Canyon), Phoenix
The highest point in Phoenix at 2,704 feet. A steep, rocky climb of about 1.2 miles each way, with roughly 1,300 feet of gain and a 360-degree view at the top.

⛰️ Piestewa Peak Summit Trail, Phoenix
Rising 2,610 feet above the city. About 1.2 miles with roughly 1,200 feet of gain, and locals call it “The Stairmaster.”

⛰️ Tom’s Thumb, McDowell Sonoran Preserve, Scottsdale
One of the most popular trails in the McDowell Mountains, with iconic desert rock formations and big Sonoran views.

⛰️ Spur Cross Ranch Conservation Area, Cave Creek
2,154 acres of protected high Sonoran Desert, with creek scenery and Hohokam petroglyphs. A peaceful escape north of the city.

🥾 Trail tips: Start early, bring plenty of water, and know your limits. Camelback and Piestewa are steep, so go at your own pace.

City summits, desert preserves, and wide-open trails. This is why so many people fall in love with life here. 🌄

Buyers ask me this constantly, so let’s run the real numbers: Washington State vs. Arizona:

🏠 A median home in Washington runs $624,300. In Arizona, that same lifestyle is closer to $450,000, a difference of over $174,000.
🧾 Washington property owners pay 0.90% in effective property tax. In Arizona, it’s 0.56%.
⛽ Gas averages $5.05 a gallon in Washington. In Arizona, it’s $4.41.
💡 Utilities run about $362 a month in Washington vs $222 in Arizona.
👶 Childcare averages $1,590 a month in Washington vs $1,072 in Arizona.
