Wilmette’s Sounds of Summer returns for 2026 with a full season of free outdoor concerts across some of the community’s most beloved parks and gathering spaces. From June through September, residents can enjoy live music at Wallace Bowl, Village Green, Mallinckrodt Park, and Hibbard Park featuring everything from tribute bands and jazz to family concerts and local favorites.

Whether it is an evening by the lake, a picnic on the lawn, or a morning concert with the kids, this series captures so much of what makes summer on the North Shore special.

Wilmette is taking a thoughtful look at how preservation and progress can exist together.

The Village is preparing a new Historic Preservation Plan designed to protect the character and architectural heritage that make Wilmette so distinctive, while also supporting future housing, economic development, and evolving community needs.

Beyond preserving historic landmarks, the conversation now includes broader priorities like housing accessibility, sustainability, neighborhood character, and long term community planning.

It is a meaningful step toward honoring Wilmette’s history while thoughtfully shaping what comes next.

A new chapter is taking shape for one of Chicago’s most iconic retail destinations.

Water Tower Place has announced a $170 million redevelopment that will reimagine the historic Magnificent Mile property ahead of its 50th anniversary. The transformation will introduce a more modern retail experience, updated public spaces filled with natural light, and a new mix of office and medical space designed to bring renewed energy to the building.

As the Magnificent Mile continues its post pandemic evolution, this project reflects a larger shift toward experiential retail, flexible spaces, and mixed use destinations that feel more connected to how people live, shop, and gather today.

Construction is expected to begin in 2027, with completion targeted for 2028.

Well, May 7th was one for the books! And please forgive the humble brag, but I am still overwhelmed with pride for the achievements of my parents and incredible example they have set. The day started with my dad receiving an award from the Ohio State Bar Association recognizing his distinguished career as a trial lawyer. Then my mom, after 9 days in the hospital, summoned her Wonder Woman-like powers to get out in time for the most incredible honor of all. Cincinnati College Preparatory Academy managed to pull off the most amazing surprise by dedicating a new learning center in my parent’s name, honoring them for their tireless work & contribution to the school. I am still speechless and beaming over the mutual love & respect the school and my parents have for each other. Congratulations Mom & Dad, you are truly inspiring! ✨
