Fall is right around the corner, and there are a few things every homeowner should check before the colder weather gets here.

Here’s your Fall Home Checklist:

🏠 Clean out gutters & downspouts
🔥 Have your HVAC system checked
🚰 Disconnect outdoor hoses & protect exterior faucets
🪟 Check windows and doors for drafts
🧯 Test smoke & carbon monoxide detectors
🍂 Clear leaves and debris away from the house
🏡 Inspect your roof for missing or damaged shingles
🪵 Check decks, steps & railings before winter weather
🔄 Reverse ceiling fans to help circulate warm air
🚪 Check weatherstripping around exterior doors

Nothing exciting. Nothing glamorous.

But spending a Saturday knocking these things out now could save you a much bigger headache — and a much bigger bill — later.

Not because you don’t want the answer.

Because asking makes it feel real.

You do NOT have to be ready to buy a house to start asking questions.

You can be 30 days away.
You can be 3 YEARS away.
You can have absolutely no idea where to start.

That’s exactly when you SHOULD ask.

Late night real estate thought… 🌙

I’m convinced every house has at least ONE thing that makes you wonder…

“Why in the world did they do that?”

Mine was a light switch that controls the top half of an outlet.

Turns out… there’s actually a reason for that.

It’s called a switched outlet, and they were commonly used so you could plug a lamp into it and control the lamp from the wall switch — basically giving you a room light without an overhead fixture.

So apparently my house isn’t weird… I just learned something new tonight.

But now I want to hear yours… 🤨

The first step is always the hardest.

Especially when you don’t know what the first step is.

A lot of people think buying their first home is complicated, but in reality, it doesn’t have to be.

Recently, I’ve had several people ask me the same question:

“What is the process of buying a home?”

And honestly, I think that’s something every first-time buyer should understand from day one.

The home-buying process shouldn’t be some big secret. You should know what happens, when it happens, and what to expect along the way.

So, here it is.

If there’s a step you don’t understand or you’d like me to explain a little deeper, shoot me a message.

And I promise you… there is no such thing as a stupid real estate question.
