SAFETY OF OUR STUDENTS IS OUR TOP PRIORITY!

Today, Knott County Emergency Management met with the Knott County School System, Kentucky State Police, local fire departments, School Resource Officers, Kentucky Emergency Management, and EMS to discuss ways to strengthen school safety and better protect our children.

This meeting brought together the people and agencies who share one common goal: keeping our schools safe and ensuring our children have a secure environment to learn, grow, and succeed.

Through communication, collaboration, planning, and preparedness, we can work together to identify potential challenges, improve our response efforts, and make sure our schools and first responders are better prepared for emergencies.

School safety is a responsibility we all share, and it takes teamwork, dedication, and a commitment to putting our children first.

I want to thank every agency and individual who took the time to participate and contribute to this important discussion. Working together, we can continue to make Knott County a safer place for our students, teachers, staff, and families.

One Team. One Community. One Mission — Protecting Our Kids!

Thanks to the Kentucky State Police for the updates and keeping our community safe.

ADVISORY

Earlier today, Wednesday, October 7th, just shortly after 4:00 p.m., Kentucky State Police, Post 13 in Hazard received a call in reference to a shooting in the Caney community of Knott County.

Troopers responded to the area in an attempt to locate the individuals involved. In an abundance of caution, Alice Lloyd College was temporarily placed on lockdown. To this point, troopers have been unable to substantiate that complaint as credible and the lockdown has been lifted.

Troopers will remain in the area, however, at this time we don’t believe there is a danger to the public. We will continue to update the situation as more details become available.

Team work keeps going, glad the Knott County Emergency Management and Knott County Fiscal Court could team up the Carrie Community center to make sure they can continue to operate as a warming/cooling center if the power goes down this winter. This generator will make sure lights stay on for our county partnerships.

🔥 What a GREAT day for Knott County!

Today was a perfect example of what can happen when organizations come together with one common goal — taking care of the people who take care of our community.

Knott County Emergency Management, Knott County Fiscal Court, Judge Executive Jeff Dobson, and the Christian Appalachian Project teamed up to provide every volunteer fire department in Knott County with a brand-new generator to use during difficult times.

These generators will be an important resource when our community faces severe weather, power outages, disasters, or other emergencies. Our volunteer firefighters are always there when their neighbors need them, and making sure they have the equipment and resources they need is something we should all be proud of.

A HUGE thank-you to the Christian Appalachian Project for helping make this possible, to Judge Executive Jeff Dobson and Knott County Fiscal Court for their continued support, and to every member of our Knott County Emergency Management team and volunteer fire departments who work tirelessly to keep our communities safe.

This is what teamwork looks like. This is what Knott County does best. 🇺🇸❤️

When times get tough, we come together, roll up our sleeves, and take care of our own.

Thank you to everyone who made this possible! Stayed tuned more coming news coming tomorrow

Prayers for the Kentucky State Police today. Pray for this Trooper, his family, and friends. Prayers for Bowling Green today as a horrible situation has unfolded. Our law enforcement officers never know when the ultimate sacrifice will be made.
