The Mature Move evolved from 19 years of real estate experience and a deep personal understanding that for seniors and longtime homeowners, moving on from a cherished home filled with memories is SO much more than the typical transaction. However, I discovered my real love and affinity is working with adults 55 and older. I’ve know that this group of homeowners has unique needs, and it often takes

shared life experiences to truly understand what they’re facing. These experiences, along with many years of working with retirees and older adults, inspired me to create THE MATURE MOVE—a real estate practice designed specifically to help this age group plan for their future housing needs. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND anyone & everyone who has older loved ones experiencing illness and/or health challenges to read this book. 📖

As an adult child who loved and helped care for my Dad as he aged and as a daughter in law to Peggy, helping Steve & his sisters care for her as she aged - the information in this book might have changed some of how we approached their lives, illnesses & medical care, and deaths.

This truth of this statement from the book screamed off the page at me:

“We want autonomy for ourselves and safety for those we love. That remains the main problem and paradox for the frail. Many of the things that we want for those we care about are things that we would adamantly oppose for ourselves because they would infringe upon our sense of self.”

The book is filled with information about how we age, a lot about what we can expect from both societal & medical perspectives, and filled with stories…like ours.
