Did you know that a person can file paperwork at the County Recorders office and claim ownership of your property?

There is fraud everywhere my friends.
BUT there are...
Property Fraud Alert Services

Doxpop Property Watch and Property Fraud Alert are free services that are useful for owners of real estate in most Indiana counties to be notified when there is activity at the Recorder’s office affecting them or their properties. After enrolling, the service will send the user an email when a filing is made in the Recorder’s office that matches the data entered by the user. Property Fraud Alert allows the user to enter the name and county so anything recorded with that name will trigger a notification. Doxpop allows the user to add the specific property for notification.

Please be aware these services will not prevent a fraudulent transfer of real estate. The services merely notify a person when a document has been recorded meeting the specified criteria. It is up to the owner to obtain legal counsel if the recording activity is not something they have initiated.
