If your roof ever needs replacement, don't just ask about price—ask about the shingle rating.
Over the last week, I've been walking neighborhoods throughout North Fort Worth after the storms, and I'm seeing a clear pattern:
🏠 Three-tab shingles = missing shingles, cracked tabs, and storm damage.
🏠 Class 4 shingles = little to no visible damage.
I learned this lesson personally. Years ago, my roofer encouraged me to spend about $2,000 more for a Class 4 roof. I wasn't thrilled about the extra cost at the time.
Over the next few years, my neighbors replaced their roofs multiple times due to storm damage.
I replaced mine once.
Sometimes the cheapest option today becomes the most expensive option tomorrow.
If you're considering a new roof, ask your roofer about Class 4 impact-resistant shingles and whether they qualify for insurance discounts in your area.
