Here’s today’s backyard garden update & little tour I did in my yard today. I describe it as: a realistic garden by someone who lets things roam free, doesn’t use chemicals, and isn’t the best at pruning 😅😎

Next week, however, the side yard transformation begins, and I’ve hired a local landscaper to transform my rose garden side yard into a lower maintenance, low water-needs, and pollinator-friendly English cottage vibe.

Today’s tour brought a huge smile to my face, as I saw that my bee friends are starting to get pollen from my Spanish lavender, and my Cecile Brunner rose behind it is getting into full bloom.

In my rose garden area, the first full bloom of my favorite rose (Eden climber) is here, and the rest of my roses are about to go wild.

I can’t wait to relax in the garden this year and soak in my favorite months. 🥹

Beachhouse Bar & Grill in Kirkland, Washington. 🌊 Or in this case, my client & her boyfriend pulled the Uno 🔄 card and ended up paying for me. 🥹

This is a wonderful spot to take out-of-town visitors, folks celebrating milestones, or for you to make everyday life special.

We ordered a couple of appetizers (brussels sprouts & burrata + bread) and I got the salmon dinner. Everything was absolutely delicious!

🚤 If you have a boat (first of all, invite me on it), they have a private dock for guests to come ashore.

One thing to note, parking can be a beast, so give yourself enough time to find street parking. Their lot only fits a few cars because, this is actually an old home. How cool is that!

You’re also right next door to Doris Cooper Houghton Beach Park, so it’s perfect for a scenic after-meal stroll along the water. The view of the Olympic mountains at sunset is sublime.

It was raining hard this morning— the first appreciable rain we’ve had in about a month, it feels like. It went from 80°+ yesterday to 50° this morning, and the chilly air felt amazing. I opened my slider door to hear the sound of the rain as I had breakfast (leftover Mother’s Day brunch), and it was such a peaceful start to the day. 🥰

I love living here.

This afternoon, I was presented a belated award for winning the Covington Chamber of Commerce “Entrepreneur of The Year” for 2025. The awards ceremony was earlier this Spring, but I wasn’t able to attend— so of the met at , to support another local business and chat over tasty drinks. 🧋

I am so very honored and touched to have been recognized again for my community stewardship, and this award will be nestled next to one I received in 2024. 🙏🏼 Building community and giving back are the cornerstones of my business, and to be “seen” by fellow business owners and community members is beyond special.

I’d also love to give a special shoutout to my husband who tirelessly works behind-the-scenes and has a hand in every single event and idea that I implement for my business. (Mostly as my set up & take down crew, but that is no easy feat!) Not to mention being the foundation & waterproofing expert on my team. I couldn’t do it without him!

To my fellow small business owners out there, I see you, too. And you are amazing!
