Meet Rex! He’s been standing here for over 50 years, and there’s actually a story behind him!

Back in the 1970s, this spot was home to Goony Golf, a popular mini-golf attraction where Rex was one of the main attractions.

When the business closed in the late ’90s, everything around him changed, but Rex stayed!

Instead of tearing him down, the new property owners decided to preserve this little piece of Jacksonville history. In 2007, UNF students even helped restore him!

Today, he’s one of Jacksonville’s quirkiest landmarks and a reminder of what this area looked like decades ago.
