Today is a solemn reminder that some never came home.
Today, we remember the empty chairs at family tables, the folded flags handed to grieving families, the last hugs, the final goodbyes, and the men and women who gave every tomorrow they had so we could live ours in freedom.
For some families, remembrance is not reserved for one day on the calendar. It lives in the chair that stays empty, the children growing up without a parent, the parents who had to bury their own child, the birthdays that still come, the photos they can’t stop staring at, the stories they keep telling so their name is never forgotten, and the life that keeps moving forward without the person who should still be in it.
So today, enjoy your family. Enjoy your home. Enjoy this country.
But pause long enough to truly remember the ones who paid the ultimate price for it.
God bless America, God bless our servicemen and woman and God bless every family that forever carries the weight of that sacrifice. 🇺🇸
