What’s it really like buying your first rental property?
We sat down with Fetch Property Manager Lizbeth Herrera to talk about her experience buying her first investment property — what she learned, what she would do differently, and the advice she’d give someone thinking about getting started.
A few of the biggest takeaways:
🏠 You don’t necessarily need to wait for the “perfect” property. Sometimes getting started is more important than getting everything exactly right.
💰 House hacking can be a great way to get started. Living in a property while building equity and creating rental income can make the first step into real estate investing much more manageable.
📈 The best time to start investing may be sooner than you think. Waiting for the perfect market, perfect interest rate, or perfect deal can mean waiting indefinitely.
And perhaps most importantly, your first rental is a learning experience. You don't need to know everything before you start — you just need to make a smart first move and keep learning along the way.
We asked Liz all about her experience, including what she learned as a first-time investor.
