Today, Livonia Fire & Rescue officially welcomed Ladder 3 into service with a traditional push-in ceremony.

This new ladder truck represents an important investment in the safety of our community. Ladder 3 was made possible in significant part through a $1 million appropriation from the State of Michigan, demonstrating what is possible when local and state partners work together.

The City of Livonia sincerely thanks Senator Mary Cavanagh, Senator Dayna Polehanki, Representative Matt Koleszar, Representative Laurie Pohutsky and Representative Stephanie Young for advocating for this investment and helping bring these resources home to Livonia. We also thank Senator Polehanki, Wayne County Commissioner Terry Marecki and our current and former City officials who joined us to celebrate this milestone.

Most importantly, we thank the men and women of Livonia Fire & Rescue for the work they do every day to protect our community.

Ladder 3 is more than a new piece of equipment. It gives our firefighters another tool to respond quickly, effectively and safely when residents need them most. It is also another example of Livonia’s continued commitment to public safety.

We are proud to welcome Ladder 3 to the Livonia Fire & Rescue family. May it stand ready to respond when called, and may every firefighter who rides on it return safely home after every call.

Thank you to everyone who helped make this investment possible

Livonia Fire & Rescue invites the community to celebrate the arrival of its newest ladder truck with a traditional Fire Apparatus Push-In Ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 25 at 10 a.m. at Fire Station #3, located at 35000 Seven Mile Road.

This longstanding fire service tradition dates back to the 1800s, when firefighters would manually push horse‑drawn engines back into the station after returning from a call. Today, departments across the country honor that history by ceremonially pushing new apparatus into service, symbolizing the vehicle’s readiness to protect and serve the community. Join us as we mark the beginning of this new truck’s service to Livonia. No registration is necessary for the public.

Livonia's annual summer Touch-A-Truck event is only a week away!
Join the Livonia Churchill Interact Club and Livonia AM Rotary at Greenmead Historical Park 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug 22, to have family fun with fascinating vehicles, food trucks, and plenty of children's activities!
Kids will be able to blast horns and sirens, climb onto construction equipment, and learn how the equipment operates, all up close and hands-on. Children were encouraged to touch their favorite vehicles, get behind the wheel, and meet the people who help to build, protect, and serve our community.
In consideration of visitors who are sensitive to loud noises, Touch a Truck offers “quiet time” from 8:30 AM - 10:30 AM. During those two hours, we will ask participants to refrain from sounding horns, sirens, and the like.
Bring all of your friends and family to experience this exciting event!
Admission is free, but a recommended donation of $5 is requested for parking.
