Opening a new credit card or furnishing your new living room before closing can actually flag your loan and put the whole deal at risk. A job change, even a good one, can do the same thing. And going in with a low offer "just to see" often just signals to the seller that you're not serious.

Most people moving to Lubbock start with the same 3 neighborhoods because that's what Google tells them to do. But there are pockets in this city that are a bit more under the radar.

Walkability, school districts, commute, weekend vibe, how close you are to the things that matter to your daily life.

These are the ones I'd put on your list first:

- Tech Terrace: Tree-lined streets and a classic neighborhood feel close to Texas Tech + local coffee spots.
- Lakeridge: Established homes, parks, and easy access to shopping and dining on the southwest side.
- Ransom Canyon: A tucked-away, “getaway” vibe with beautiful views and a strong community feel.
- The Trails: Golf course community with newer builds and quick access to Loop 289.
- Southcrest: Convenient central location with a mix of charming homes and everyday essentials nearby.
