A mortgage point or discount point is when you pay an upfront amount in exchange for a lower interest rate. This ultimately will reduce your monthly mortgage payment.
One consideration you should think about is the length of time youโ€™ll own the prospective property. If you plan to sell after a few years, then buying mortgage points may not be an option to consider.

โ€œTitle fraud, or deed theft, is when someone illegally transfers the title or deed of your property without your knowledge, often using forged documents or fake IDsโ€, according to the National Association of Realtors.

Title fraud can be harder to detect, but there are some steps you can do to become more aware.
