Please join us in welcoming our 2026 Summer Interns Jacob Brooks and Lucy Heimerl, representing the University of Wisconsin-Madison!

Throughout the summer, they'll gain hands-on experience across all areas of real estate, working alongside our team and learning from professionals across the organization. From development and construction to property management and operations, they'll have the opportunity to see firsthand how great communities are planned, built, and managed.

Through project involvement, site visits, and mentorship, Lucy and Jacob will gain valuable industry knowledge while building skills that will support their future careers.

We're thrilled to have them on board and look forward to all they'll accomplish this summer. Welcome to FRED, Lucy and Jacob!

Yesterday, teams from across FRED gathered to celebrate the successful completion of Seasons at Grafton. It was a great evening bringing together the many people who played a role in the community’s success and served as a meaningful reminder of the value of being a fully integrated real estate company. From development and construction to investment and property management, every stage requires collaboration, dedication, and teamwork to bring a community to life.

We are grateful for the incredible teams behind this milestone and are proud to celebrate all that was accomplished together!

Last week, we had a great time at our FRED Game Day cheering on the Brewers together! It was wonderful to bring team members from across our communities together and celebrate the strong culture, collaboration, and relationships that make FRED such a great place to work.

We were also proud to have this event support a Hunger Task Force food drive organized by our Groundwork Committee. Team members donated canned goods and other essential items, totaling over 700 lbs. of food, to help local families in need, and FRED proudly contributed an additional $3,000 to the cause.

Between a fun day at the ballpark and the opportunity to give back, it was a great reminder of what makes the FRED team so special both in and out of the workplace!

Today our Groundwork Committee hosted a meaningful event where we learned more about the American Cancer Society, their mission, and the important local impact they continue to make in our communities.

We kicked off the morning with AM Coffee Co, who served handcrafted beverages before an insightful presentation that followed.

With many members of our team and loved ones personally impacted by cancer, FRED is proud to support this cause. We are honored to have donated $10,000 to the American Cancer Society to help continue research and the fight to end cancer.

April is National Volunteer Month, a time to recognize the impact of giving back and the communities strengthened through service.

This month, our Groundwork Committee created meaningful opportunities to get involved, and it was incredible to see the response. Over 25 FRED employees from our Madison, Milwaukee, Illinois, and Green Bay teams came together to make a difference locally at the Ronald McDonald House of Madison and Eastern Wisconsin, Phil's Friends, and House of Hope Green Bay.

Together, we raised $4,000 for these local organizations, but the impact we made and the connections built will extend far beyond that. Thank you to everyone who volunteered, and we look forward to continuing to serve our communities through future Groundwork initiatives!

Last week, our 2026 FRED Summit took place at Discovery World, bringing our onsite property management teams together for a day centered on elevating the resident experience. It was a chance to share ideas, learn from one another, and focus on how we can better support the people who call our communities home.

At FRED, everything we do is rooted in creating a thoughtful, high quality experience from the moment you first connect with our teams through every day of living with us.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made the day so impactful!

We recently hosted a Girl Scout troop at our Corporate Office as part of Women in Construction Week. The group learned about careers in construction and participated in hands-on simulations.

Their curiosity and eagerness to learn made the experience even more meaningful. We’re proud to help expose young women to the many paths within the construction field and create a space where they feel encouraged to explore, ask questions, and grow!

To wrap up Women in Construction Week, we’re honored to introduce Construction Intern Kira Goldbach.

Kira initially planned to pursue a degree in mechanical engineering because she genuinely enjoyed her engineering courses in high school and the academic challenge they provided. During her junior year, however, she became more involved in construction classes and was offered a carpentry apprenticeship. Encouraged by her woodworking teacher, who recognized her strong passion for the field, she decided to change her major before attending UW–Platteville, a decision she says proved to be the best choice for her career.

She shares that strong communication and staying organized have mattered most in her career. Her advice to others is simple: “Skills have no gender. Don’t be afraid to stand out or make mistakes. They help you learn and grow.”

We’re proud to have Kira on our team in the early stages of her career and look forward to watching her continue to grow!

Continuing Construction Week with another highlight, today we’re featuring Construction Intern Abigail Spilde.

Construction has always been part of Abigail’s life. With her dad working as a residential drywaller and her mom as a residential HVAC technician, she discovered her passion for building early on. Now a first-generation graduating senior at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville, she is earning her B.S. in Construction Management with an emphasis in Construction Safety, along with minors in Architecture and Business, while also beginning her Master’s in Project Management.

She attributes her success to personal drive, a strong focus on safety management, effective communication, and strong problem-solving skills. At the core of it all is her belief that “everyone should go home safe to their families at the end of the day.”

Her advice to women entering the industry is simple: “Learn like a sponge and don’t be afraid to ask questions. Throw your hair up in your hardhat and be proud to be a woman in construction.”

We’re proud to have Abigail on our team and excited to watch her continue growing in this industry.
