What if your low mortgage rate didn’t have to be the reason you stayed? 👀
The proposed MOVE Act 2026 is getting attention because it could potentially allow certain homeowners to take their existing mortgage rate, terms, and remaining balance with them when they move.
For homeowners sitting on a 3–4% rate who WANT to move but can’t justify starting over at today’s rates… this could be a big deal.
This would require Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to purchase and securitize conventional mortgages that allow homeowners to transfer their current interest rate and loan balance to a new property.
Important reminder: this is only a proposal right now. It has NOT passed and you cannot do this today. There are still plenty of details that would need to be worked out.
But it definitely raises an interesting question…
If you could take your current mortgage rate with you, would you finally move? 👇
