A few recent thoughts on real estate services ... closing agents have gone to the dogs as far as any sense they need to be as accountable to agents as they do to attorneys and clients, where, let's face it, you have to transfer funds on the day due to mortgage, interest rates and taxes that are prorated.
As a realtor, you and your commission is an inconvenience to them. You can send a bill with wire instructions; they will claim no to get them, and put your check into regular mail, no tracking. They can promise you an ALTA. No ALTA (which you need for compliance). Or, they'll say they never got your wire instructions, and btw, if you want a wire, that's $35. You ask about overnight mail with tracking, they say that's $25. Then, they don't mail your check for two days. There is no "I'm sorry." Just silence when you ask they for updates or terse responses. Clearly somewhere at the top the workers are being told they can behave like this. Google them and they have glowing reviews "everything was so smooth" ...
Ok, this may seem petty ... but if it was their pay check, do you think any of these people would be that cavalier?
