U.S. 70 Improvements in James City - Traffic Alert

On Saturday, Sept. 19., a series of traffic changes will occur in the Williams Road area near Old Cherry Point Road. A new portion of Williams Road opening, new stop signs on Old Cherry Point Road, and permanent service road closures will further prepare the area for future interchange construction and advance traffic flow toward its final state.

U.S. 70 Improvements in James City - Traffic Alert

Starting at 7 p.m. tonight, Monday, Sept. 14, one lane of U.S. 70 Eastbound and Westbound between Williams Road and the Trent River will be closed for overhead sign installation until 6 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 15.

Between midnight and 5 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, full road closures of U.S. 70 Eastbound and Westbound between Williams Road and the Trent River will occur in one direction at a time for no more than 30 minutes. There may be repeated closures in each direction. Drivers are encouraged to make alternate travel plans. There will not be a signed detour. If in the area during this work, drivers should be patient and alert to crews working. This work is weather dependent.

Please pay close attention to posted signs for directions and be cautious as you drive through this active construction zone. This work is weather dependent.

Starting at 10 p.m. tonight, Tuesday, Sept. 8, Old Cherry Point Road will be closed for storm drain work behind Carolina Grill until 5 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 9. During this time, drivers will be detoured to SR 1155 (U.S. 70 Westbound Service Road) via Pender Street or Oak Street.
