Missing heir. Succession. Years of delinquent taxes. A previous tax sale. Major code liens.

This was definitely not a normal closing.

We first spoke with the owners of this Mid-City New Orleans property back in 2021. At the time they decided not to sell and hoped to renovate it themselves.

Five years later, the situation had become much more complicated and the property was continuing to deteriorate.

Working with Olivia Byers and the team at Title Stream, we were able to work through the court and title process, protect the missing heir’s interest, resolve the tax-sale issue and get the code liens to a level where the property could finally move forward.

There’s a pretty cool ending too.

Dillon King, who works with us at Home Buyer Louisiana and is also a licensed GC and investor, decided to buy the property himself and take on the renovation.

When Dillon first inspected it, neighbors actually approached him hoping he was there because somebody was finally going to do something with the house.

Now it’s closed and the next chapter starts.
