🏡 **DID YOU KNOW? Seller financing is not a new idea.**

Long before today’s standardized mortgage system became the norm, buyers and sellers were already using private agreements to make real estate transactions work.

In the United States, the modern mortgage system changed dramatically during and after the 1930s, when longer-term, fully amortizing mortgages became more standardized. Seller financing remained another way for buyers and sellers to create terms directly between themselves.

So why has seller financing continued to matter?

Because sometimes:

✅ A buyer needs another path besides traditional bank financing
✅ A seller wants more flexibility in how they sell
✅ Both sides want to negotiate terms that fit the deal
✅ Creative financing can keep an opportunity alive when conventional financing does not fit

In a seller-financed transaction, the seller essentially acts as the lender and the buyer repays the agreed amount over time under negotiated terms.

That does **not** mean every deal is simple or appropriate. Seller-financed transactions can involve legal, financial, and default risks, which is why proper documentation and professional guidance matter.
