Bokeelia Birthday trip and crazy weather!

So, last weekend was my birthday weekend, and some of our friends came down from Orlando to celebrate with my husband and me. We rented the cutest little Airbnb right on the water in Bokeelia with a boat launch out back. When I first saw the launch, I honestly didn't think there was any way we'd get the boat in—it was SO narrow! But my husband worked his magic and launched it like a pro. (I'll happily give him full credit for that one!)

We spent the day exploring Cayo Costa, where we found some incredible shells and even five or six sand dollars! I'd only ever seen sand dollars in gift shops, so finding them naturally on the beach was such a cool experience.

Of course, this is Southwest Florida in the summertime...

One minute it was beautiful and sunny, and the next the sky turned dark, the clouds rolled in, and it looked downright angry! We hurried back to the boat, hoping to outrun the storm. Spoiler alert—we didn't. 😂 We spent part of the ride back getting soaked before finally making it safely to shore.

Thankfully, everything turned out just fine, and we still made it to my birthday dinner at Tarpon Lodge in Bokeelia. It was the perfect mix of fun, adventure, excitement... and just a little bit of adrenaline!
