Intel makes big VC investment in Orlando startup Beep...

An Orlando-based business that less than two years ago launched operations has attracted the investment dollars of Intel Corp., the world’s seventh-biggest tech company.

Intel Capital and Sunrise, Florida-based Blue Lagoon Capital led Beep Inc.’s latest — and biggest— venture capital raise. The autonomous shuttle operator landed roughly $20 million in a Series A investment round, Orlando Business Journal reported May 4. This capital funds Beep as it rolls out more routes and services in Florida and beyond, which local jobs to be created as a result.

In a fixed-rate mortgage, the interest rate stays the same throughout the life of the loan.
In an adjustable-rate mortgage, the interest rate can change over the course of the loan at five, seven, or ten year intervals. For homeowners who plan to stay in their home for more than a few years, this is a risky loan as rates can suddenly skyrocket depending on market conditions.

Two Reasons Why Property Technology Is Suddenly Super Hot...

Long an outlier to other technology verticals, property technology is only going to get hotter as the real estate market heats up.

On an overcast but incredibly humid day in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, I was standing outside a nondescript apartment block. No more than a year old, the cheap construction was already showing its wear; drainpipes were rusting, the carpet was slightly worn and a smell emanated from the hallway that I could only generously call "apartment special."

With nary a real estate agent in sight, I scanned a QR code on my phone and was let into the building and into the prospective unit. Using an application called Instahome, I was guided through an augmented reality tour of the unit and, once this was complete, directed to closing and signup forms — all on my smartphone.

Jacksonville Jaguars, Florida Tech partner for Andrew Jackson High School STEM lab...

Florida Tech has partnered with the NFL’s Jacksonville Jaguars to open a STEM Lab at Andrew Jackson High School of Advanced Technology in Jacksonville.

Since 2019, Florida Tech has been the official STEM education sponsor of the Jaguars.

Florida Tech fully funded 24 new laptops and furniture to provide an enhanced, virtual reality-based learning environment for the 930-student high school located just north of downtown Jacksonville.

“As Florida’s STEM university, Florida Tech understands the power and potential of a technology-rich, student-driven education,” said Florida Tech President Dwayne McCay. “We are pleased to join the Jaguars in strengthening the opportunities for students at Andrew Jackson and look forward to the success and innovation this new facility will foster.”
