My boys have watched me handle pressure both well and poorly. I am not always proud of what they have seen.

There are times my mood is tied directly to how things are going in the business. I know they feel that. That is something I actively work on and I am not perfect at it yet.

But a couple of years ago we had a very public failure. A company that was not what it was set up to be. I lost over a million dollars in a very short period of time. It was one of the hardest seasons of my life and they had front row seats to all of it.

What they also saw was someone who never quit. Who kept finding ways through it. Who came out the other side.

I am proud of that. Not because it went perfectly. Because it did not. And we kept going anyway. That is the lesson I hope they carry with them longer than anything I could have ever taught them in a classroom.

Most agents do not have a business. They have a job dressed up to look like one.

A CRM they barely touch. A website nobody visits. A stack of portal leads that do not know their name and will close with whoever calls first.

That is not a business. That is a treadmill. And the minute you stop running, everything stops with you.

The agents stuck here are not lazy. They are not bad salespeople. They are actually really good because they have put in the reps. The problem is nobody ever gave them a system. They were never taught to build a lead engine. They were told they were the lead engine. And that is the trap.

I have been broke. I have been scared. I have had the phone calls that make your stomach drop and the moments where quitting felt like the only rational option.

Faith did not make those moments easy. It made them survivable. It gave me a reason to get up and keep building when the numbers said stop.

Every decision I make at the highest level of this business has something underneath it that has nothing to do with the market. That foundation is the whole thing.

Most fathers say they just want their kids to be happy. I do not.

Happiness is fleeting. It comes and goes with circumstances. What I want for my boys is impact. I want to see them at 35 years old on fire for something bigger than themselves. Walking with confidence. Leading their families. Being the kind of man their wife and kids can count on completely.
Not arrogant. Confident. Strong enough to protect and provide so they can be soft in the moments that call for it. That is the warrior. That is what I am building toward every single day as their father.

Happy is a feeling. That is a man.

The market did not break your business. You never actually built one.

71% of agents closed zero transactions last year. Every single one had the same explanation. The market. But when rates were low everybody looked like a genius.

The market was doing the work. Now it is not. And the difference is showing.

The agents thriving right now did not get lucky. They built a model that works in any market. Listings. Systems. Database. Relationships.

Not just riding the wave. You do not need a better market.

You need a better model. One that produces the same in a slow market as it does in a hot one.

I did not have a roadmap for this. Nobody handed me a manual on how to be the father I wanted to be. I had to figure it out along the way.

What I learned is that my boys did not need the business or the money or the success. They needed me on the floor. Present. Honest about the hard stuff. Willing to show up even when I did not have it all figured out.

You are not just raising a kid. You are releasing a man into the world. That is the most important thing you will ever build.

The biggest mistake I see fathers making with their sons is thinking the job is just to protect and provide.

It is more than that. Our job is to send men out into the world. Men with character. Men with integrity. Men who know how to lead a family and love a wife well. That is the gift we give the world when we get this right.

And y'all, get on the floor and wrestle with your boys. Boys are different. They need that friction. That iron sharpening iron. Nobody in my house has
taken the title yet. Not because I want to beat them. Because I want them to know nothing worth having is ever just handed to you.

That lesson starts at home.

People ask me all the time how I handle the pressure of building multiple businesses, raising three boys, and staying healthy at 57.

I do not have a complicated answer.

I train before the world needs anything from me. I start every day in prayer before I start it in business. Those two things are not optional. They are the foundation that everything else sits on.

When the foundation is solid everything built on top of it holds. When it is not nothing else compensates.

Most people treat their body like a liability they manage. I treat mine like the most important asset in my business.

The moment a leader stops investing in their physical health, everything else starts to slip. Decisions get cloudy. Energy drops. The team feels it before you do. You cannot fake your way through high performance on a broken foundation.

I am in my fifties and I am stronger, sharper, and more focused than I was at 35. That did not happen by accident. It happened because I made a decision that my body was going to match the level I was trying to operate at. Not for the mirror. For the mission.

How do you build grit in a kid who has never had to struggle for anything? That is one of the hardest questions I wrestle with as a father.

You cannot manufacture the kind of struggle that builds character in a healthy way. But you can put them in environments that teach the right lessons. Baseball does that for my youngest. You want to talk about a sport that prepares you for life as an entrepreneur? If you fail 70% of the time at the plate you are a Hall of Famer. If you fail 80% of the time you are still in the major leagues. That is the mindset I want him to carry into everything he does.

And what the field teaches you even faster is this. You will not rise to the occasion. You will fall to the level of your preparation. Every single time.
