🏔 Thinking about living near the mountains in the Scottsdale area?
Here’s something most people don’t realize…
One of the most common things I hear from people exploring a move (or a future winter home) in Arizona is:
“We want to live near the mountains.”
What surprises almost everyone is how many different versions of mountain living exist here — each with its own personality, lifestyle, and price range.
For example:
• Camelback Mountain is iconic, but the experience feels very different depending on which side you’re on — from dramatic Paradise Valley estates to more accessible Scottsdale/Arcadia-adjacent homes that prioritize views and architecture.
• Mummy Mountain is quieter and incredibly special — elevated, private, and peaceful (it’s actually where I grew up).
• Areas near the Phoenix Mountain Preserve and Piestewa Peak often surprise people with their mountain feel, neighborhood vibe, trail access, and more approachable price points.
• And farther north, places like Troon Mountain offer mountain views with a slightly more country feel — often balancing views, space, and everyday livability.
Big picture: most mountainside homes trade yard space for views, the real question is how much.
Some areas deliver maximum drama and elevation, while others offer a softer, more livable version of mountain life.
What I love most about helping people explore Arizona is that many end up falling in love with areas they never even knew existed.
If you’ve ever thought about a future move, a winter home, or you’re simply curious about what “mountain living” really looks like here, I’m always happy to talk it through or do some low-key exploring when you’re in town. No pressure, just possibilities 🌞🌵
