On May 27, 2024, our son, Col. Thad R. Middleton, was the speaker for the Memorial Day Ceremony at the Pine Grove Park War Memorial. Forty-four days later, on July 10, he was diagnosed with glioblastoma. Thad passed away on January 9, 2026. We were so proud that he was chosen to be the speaker. I wasn't going to record his speech; I was going to live in the moment. Then something told me to record it, and I am so glad I did.
