I was sitting in my 4th grade classroom when my teacher turned on the news. At that age, I didn’t fully understand the magnitude of what I was watching until I got home and heard my parents talk about what happened.

That day helped shape my future and ultimately drove me toward a life of public service. I’ve now been a firefighter for 14 years.

Today, we remember the lives lost, the families forever changed, and the incredible courage of the first responders who ran toward danger when others were running away.

We will never forget. 9/11/2001.
