To my childhood home: 🤍
I moved in when I was five. I’m now 30, and somehow, all these years later, this house has continued to be my safe place. The place I could always go to clear my head or just get out of the house for a while.
The house my little sister came home to after the hospital. The house that could tell a million stories about my older sister and me, including, “Don’t tell Mom I hit you. Just hit me back.” 😂
The house that still has me sprinting up the stairs at 30, just in case something is hiding under them. The driveway where I sat in mud puddles as a kid. The backyard where I made mud pies with my childhood best friends. The kitchen table where I told my parents I was pregnant.
The house of basement sleepovers, endless pool parties, Halloween parties, baby showers, birthday parties and getting ready for high school dances. The house where I painted my bedroom purple while my parents were at work and hoped for the best.
Twenty-five years of memories, so many seasons of life, and so many versions of me. It’s crazy how much life can happen within four walls and how an ordinary house can hold such a big piece of your heart.
This house will forever be home to me. It’s hard to imagine someone else calling it theirs, but I’m so grateful for every memory made here.
Here’s to the next family who gets to call it home. I hope these walls hold just as much love, laughter, and beautiful memories for them as they have for us. 🤍
Congrats to my dad on the sale of his home. I heard you’re getting a pretty cool roommate.
