Why are cap rates moving up on multifamily and other institutional assets?
Managing Director Bob Rohrer explains it like this: โ€œHigher Treasury yields are reshaping how institutional investors think about commercial real estate returns. As the yield on that baseline, nearly risk-free option has moved up, CRE cap rates have had to follow. We're seeing, for example, investment grade multifamily assets move into the 6% range, and in some transactions into the 7s.โ€
