🏆 Maryland… 37 schools were just named among America’s Healthiest Schools—and SIX are right here in Montgomery County!
Even better, Burtonsville Elementary and Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Middle School in Germantown earned All-Star recognition, meeting all nine health and wellness criteria.
Schools in Silver Spring, Rockville, Clarksburg, and Derwood were also recognized.

🏆 Six Montgomery County schools just earned national recognition!
They’re among 37 Maryland schools named to the 2026 list of America’s Healthiest Schools by the Alliance for a Healthier Generation.
⭐ All-Star recognition — all 9 areas:
Burtonsville Elementary School
Dr. Martin Luther King Junior Middle School — Germantown
🏅 7 areas:
Sargent Shriver Elementary School — Silver Spring
Twinbrook Elementary School — Rockville
👏 Also recognized:
Hallie Wells Middle School — Clarksburg
Redland Middle School — Derwood
Schools are evaluated on practices supporting student, staff, and family well-being, including nutrition, physical activity, health services, staff wellness, and family engagement.
Nationwide, 1,376 schools were recognized this year, with only 200 earning All-Star status.
