There are so many great communities throughout both areas, and I thought it would be fun to get together and explore some of the possibilities.

Well, looks like we're doing this again come September!

Earlier this year I threw together a small Zoom round table for folks who were kicking around the idea of relocating, buying some acreage, or making the jump to North Idaho or Eastern Washington. Didn't know what to expect, honestly — but a lot more people showed up than I planned for, and the conversations turned out better than I could've hoped.

So now that fall's rolling in and everybody's getting back into their routines, I figured it's time to bring it back.

Nothing fancy. Small group, no pitch, no slideshow — just folks asking the questions they've actually got, talking through what they're wrestling with, and hearing from others thinking about making a similar move.

Maybe you've already got your plan mapped out. Maybe you're still just trying to figure out where you'd even want to land, or what it'd realistically cost. Either way, pull up a chair.

Well, it's out.
"Fresh Starts, Old Roots: A Homesteader's Guide to Knowing When to Stay, When to Go, and How to Move Forward" is now available on Amazon, and I'm glad to finally be able to share it with you.
This one's close to my heart. I wrote it for folks who've stood at a crossroads on their homestead journey, wrestling with whether to dig in deeper where they are or pack up and start something new somewhere else. It's a hard question. It's also one I've lived, and I wrote this book to help others think it through.

I've been thinking about this for a while, and I finally decided to go for it.

I'm branching out into fixer-upper and distressed properties. Not just homesteads, but regular houses too. Places that need work, have been sitting too long, or just need the right person to come along and see what they could be.
I've always been drawn to that kind of thing. There's something satisfying about looking past what a place is right now and seeing what it could become with a little effort and some care put back into it.
So whether I'm renovating a neglected house to create affordable housing, holding onto something worth keeping, or helping someone else buy or sell a property they don't know what to do with, that's the direction I'm heading.
Good people deserve a decent place to live, and there are a lot of houses out there that could be that place with the right work put into them.
If you know of anything sitting around that someone needs to move, or if you've got a place yourself and you're ready to talk, reach out. Doesn't have to be pretty. That's kind of the point.
