🌿 LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: Snow Canyon State park Utah Division of State Parks

Looking for a Southern Utah hike with a little history, wildlife, and a spectacular seasonal reward?

This popular trail in Snow Canyon State Park winds through a verdant canyon that has been important to wildlife and human cultures throughout the region’s history. Along the way, hikers can spot remnants of an historic water pipe once used to transport water from Snow Spring to agricultural areas in Ivins.

After steady rains, the canyon can come alive with a 200-foot waterfall, creating a large pool at the end of the trail. Near the end of the hike, keep an eye east for Johnson Arch, a stunning 200-foot natural sandstone arch.

The trail is open September 15 through March 14 each year, with seasonal closures protecting Snow Spring, sensitive riparian habitat, and breeding wildlife, including peregrine falcons and gray foxes. During the closure, access is limited to ranger-guided hikes.
