When Mike took on 198 Ashantilly, this was never going to be a typical renovation. The original pink cottage was lifted and taken back to its skeleton, and the new home was literally built around it. Today, the bones of that original cottage remain inside the house as an architectural art installation—a little piece of old St. Simons preserved within something completely new.

We had so much fun with the design side of this project—choosing the colors, designer tile, ambrosia maple floors, walnut details, custom cabinetry, Restoration Hardware vanities, and all the luxury finishes -- even set up for a steam shower in master if wanted. The pink and green Palm Beach-inspired palette is also an homage to the original pink house that stood here.

We designed it for the way we think a St. Simons house should be lived in: lots of room for family and friends, a huge upstairs bunk/bonus room, beautiful but comfortable interiors, and a backyard you really never need to leave. Pool, bocce, plenty of room to gather, and professional landscaping.

We also furnished it more like a home than a vacation rental, with Four Hands and other quality pieces totaling more than $120,000 in retail furnishings.

And the location is hard to beat—just off Kings Way, directly across from a park, and positioned beautifully for both personal use and vacation rental potential.

After putting so much thought into every detail, we are getting ready to offer 198 Ashantilly for sale.

It’s a little bittersweet because I love how this one turned out. The old pink house is still here—in its bones, its colors and its story. 💗
