What problem are you solving?
Before you call three contractors or pick out tile samples, pause.
The most successful home projects start with a clear definition of the problem, not the solution.
Is the kitchen workflow broken because the sink is too far from the prep zone? Is the bathroom layout causing morning traffic jams? Or is it simply that the lighting makes evening cooking feel like a chore?
When you can articulate the specific daily-life friction you want to remove, you give your design team a much stronger foundation. It helps prioritize budget toward what actually improves your routine, rather than just what looks trendy in a magazine.
I often suggest clients write down their top three "pain points" in a space before we even walk through potential homes or discuss renovation scopes. It keeps the focus on livability.
What’s one thing in your house that slows you down every day?
