I AM THRILLED TO SHARE SOME EXCITING NEWS WITH YOU!!
THIS IS A LENGTHY POST, BUT I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL IF YOU'D TAKE A MOMENT TO READ IT!
Five years ago, with the urging of my dear friend Christy Lawrence, I took a profound leap of faith and embarked on the journey to obtain my real estate license. Even as a child, I was captivated by the world of real estate, recalling the countless Sundays spent exploring homes with my parents as they searched for a new house. I would spend hours looking at homes in the Sunday paper (yes, way before Zillow)! Those experiences ignited a spark within me, further fueled by my friend's father (my dad worked auctions with him) who owned a real estate agency and auction company, and whose sales and property viewings I had the privilege of attending. Those auctions were a melting pot of fascinating individuals and properties, subtly shaping my future path. As I progressed through college, studying business administration and legal secretarial administration, the flame of passion for real estate continued to burn bright. Following graduation, my first job was with a law firm, where I worked closely with an attorney appointed by the court to sell foreclosure properties, destiny once again drawing me to real estate. During this time, I took advantage of living in a college town by taking real estate courses at Western Kentucky University, purely for enjoyment, and thoroughly loved every course. Meanwhile, I married my college sweetheart and we built a life in my hometown of Bowling Green, KY. Six years in, when my son was nine months old, my husband, Kelley, accepted his first CEO role in healthcare administration in Franklin, TN, marking the beginning of my most rewarding job yet - being a full-time mom! Before long, our family was complete with the arrival of Amy, and I couldn't have been more grateful for this blessing. The years that followed, though filled with moves, children’s activities and part-time job ventures, were truly precious and fleeting times! Our last move was 25 years ago to Sikeston, MO which became my children’s “hometown.”
As Matt ventured into college, I re-entered the workforce full time, exploring the insurance field, eventually obtaining a property and casualty insurance license. All together, I spent a decade in the insurance industry, creating unforgettable memories, before taking a brief hiatus.
(Hang in there! I'm almost at the finish line! If you've read this far, you might as well see it through)!
It was during this pause that my long-time friend Christy, decided to launch her own real estate brokerage and invited me to join her team. It was as if God was saying, “Ok, Cheryl, here’s another opportunity for you to follow your dream and explore a career in real estate!” This time I listened! In 2021, I studied to be a real estate agent, passed the test and was on my way! Two years later I studied for and received my broker’s license! I continued working with Christy until two weeks ago when I decided to take another leap of faith, with Christy’s blessing, and go out on my own as an individual broker!
Currently you’ll find me working from my home office at 705 N Kingshighway, Sikeston MO. Please stayed tuned though! I’m inspired to continue the journey by opening my own agency! I hope my Facebook friends will follow and support me as I continue in real estate, the career that I truly love and has been so rewarding, the one that God has been preparing me for all my life!
Thanks to everyone who took the time to read this to the end!!
