July 2027 will mark fifty years since Richard Pointer first purchased the Lemp Mansion, fulfilling a quiet dream to open a neighborhood chicken dinner restaurant. What began as a simple vision grew into something far greater. Alongside his family, Richard lovingly rescued the historic site from its days as a patchwork boarding house, restoring it to the warm, elegant grandeur once known to the Lemp family and preserving a treasured piece of old St. Louis.
For half a century, under the watchful and devoted care of the Pointer family, the Mansion has been a backdrop for life's most meaningful moments. Generations of St. Louisans have gathered within its walls to dine and celebrate, to tour its historic halls, host parties, spend the night, search for ghosts, and exchange wedding vows. For the Pointers, this journey has truly been a labor of love.
On December 31, 2027, that watch will come to a close as the family prepares to pass the torch to new hands. Until that day arrives, the Lemp Mansion will remain open to the community, continuing to serve St. Louis just as it has for the past fifty years: with deep love and enduring gratitude.
