Let's hope this is the case! 👉 "St. Louis and Missouri leaders called Wednesday a “great day” for St. Louis, particularly its downtown, as they hope a mixture of new legislation, Rams settlement funding and other efforts will lead to revitalization of the struggling area."

Gov. Mike Kehoe and other officials say two new economic development laws aim to help downtown St. Louis recover from decades of decline.

"The 30-story office tower at 800 Market St. was acquired Wednesday from an entity identified as 800 Market Street LLC, according to city deed records. A source close to the matter said the firm acquiring the building is tied to George Pfenenger, the co-founder and former CEO of Socket Fiber, a Columbia, Missouri-based telecommunications firm."

The downtown office tower sold for at least $9.55 million at the June auction.

It said while "a number of members" offered to pay an additional assessment to keep the club open, it wouldn't have been enough to keep the club open "for even the immediate future."

The members-only club will close next week after an analysis by its board found that "financial stability was beyond our reach."
