A little perspective from the REALTOR® side of the door… Sometimes, before we meet a new client, we may ask a few extra questions, verify information, confirm identification, research who we’re meeting with, or put certain safety measures in place before showing a property... especially when we’re meeting someone for the first time or walking into a vacant home.

Please know, it isn’t personal.

Real estate is a unique profession. We often meet people we have never met before, sometimes alone, sometimes in vacant or unfamiliar properties, and sometimes in areas where no one else knows exactly where we are. That creates a level of vulnerability that many people may not realize.

We absolutely want to provide great service, be welcoming, and make the buying or selling process comfortable, but we also have families waiting for us to come home.

So when your REALTOR® asks for identification, wants to speak with you before scheduling a showing, confirms your information, prefers an initial meeting at the office, or follows another safety procedure, please understand there is a reason behind it.
