Have you ever wondered who decided we needed a little switch to shut the power off when something goes wrong?

Early electrical systems relied heavily on fuses. When too much current flowed through a circuit, the fuse would melt and have to be replaced.

As electrical systems evolved, engineers developed resettable circuit breakers that could interrupt dangerous electrical current without requiring a new fuse every time. ⚡

🏠 "It's a brand-new home... what could possibly be wrong?"

New construction doesn't always mean problem-free. ⚠️

Earlier this year, a homeowner contacted Knox Engineering & Inspections because they were concerned about the way the foundation of their new construction home was being built.

Instead of ignoring that gut feeling, they asked for answers. 🔍

Our engineer initially began working with the homeowner to provide a Structural Beam Analysis and Repair Recommendation Report. 📐👷‍♂️

But as the process continued, the concerns grew.

Our involvement was expanded to include a full foundation and framing review for code deficiencies, along with detailed photographic documentation of the construction process. 📸🏗️

The engineering report is now also being developed to provide professional documentation in support of ongoing legal proceedings.

This project began in April 2026 and is still ongoing—which is an important reminder:

✨ New doesn't automatically mean it was built correctly.

When something doesn't look or feel right during construction, getting an independent professional engineer involved before everything is covered by drywall and finishes can make a huge difference.

🌧️ When a retaining wall fails, the damage doesn't always stop at the wall...

Years ago, this property had its retaining wall inspected and re-inspected after repairs were completed. Everything seemed to be taken care of. ✅

Then came a storm. ⛈️

In 2025, the homeowner reached out after the retaining wall was damaged and ultimately failed. The problem was now affecting more than just the wall—water was flooding into the pool area and the property needed a real solution. 🏡💦
