When I’m looking at a piece of Wisconsin acreage, I’m paying attention to more than bedrooms, bathrooms and square footage.

I want to know what’s happening out back.

Where does the open ground meet the timber?

How thick is the cover?

Where are the natural travel routes?

What does the terrain look like once you get away from the house?

As someone who enjoys hunting and the outdoors myself, these are the details I naturally look for.

Because if you’re buying a country property for hunting, recreation or simply having your own piece of Wisconsin, the land is a big part of what you’re buying.

Sometimes the house gets you through the front door.

The property behind it is what makes you want to stay.

You can scroll through photos of the house.

But that still doesn’t tell you what it actually feels like to walk the property.

Let’s walk the trails.

Let’s see how private it actually feels once you get away from the road.

And let’s figure out whether the land fits what you want to do with it.

Maybe that means hunting.
