Renting isn’t “throwing money away.” It can actually teach you a lot about what you’ll want when you eventually buy.

Maybe you realize the commute matters more than extra square footage. Or that you need a garage, hate yard work, want a bigger kitchen, or would happily pay more to live in a certain area. You’re also learning what monthly payment feels comfortable and how much maintenance you’d realistically want to take on. Pay attention to what you love and what drives you crazy about your rental. That list can be pretty useful when it’s time to start house hunting.
