WILDWOOD MAYOR ED WOLF TO BE RECOGNIZED FOR HIS HALF-CENTURY OF SERVICE
Wildwood Mayor Ed Wolf will be recognized for 50 years of public service on Monday, June 15, 2026, at a special called meeting of the city commission.
“It’s hard to believe how quickly the time has gone by,” Mayor Wolf reflected. “It seems like just yesterday that Wildwood was little more than the railroad and one main intersection controlled by stop signs. I’m proud to have helped it grow into a place our kids can make a good living and raise a family, but I do often miss the days when life was slower and I knew everyone’s name.”
Wolf moved to the city from Leesburg after marrying Wildwood native Irish Cason in 1968. A retired educator, he served Wildwood Middle School for 34 years, teaching agriculture, coaching football, and acting as athletic director. First appointed in 1975 to fill a vacancy on Wildwood’s city commission, Wolf was elected mayor in 1988 and has served in that capacity since, winning every reelection contest along the way.
“Ed has always been a positive role model,” said City Manager Jason McHugh. “When I came to Wildwood early in my career, he taught me what public service truly means. Regardless of the challenges we have faced together, he has put the city’s residents first, every single time. He is as down to earth and authentic as they come. I feel very blessed to serve under his leadership.”
Chris Holley from the Florida League of Cities will mark the milestone by presenting Mayor Wolf with a John Land Years of Service Award. The award recognizes selfless commitment to municipal leadership and governance and is named in honor of longtime Apopka Mayor John Land, who served his city for more than 60 years.
The meeting will begin at 9 a.m. in City Hall, 100 N. Main St. in Wildwood, and is open to the public. An informal reception with light refreshments will follow. All are invited to attend.
