Leaking Patio´s

Most important problem on upstairs patio is that water tends to pool on the patio floor tiles creating puddles. After a while no matter how you try to seal water will descend into the ceiling of walls plaster below the pooling water.

Weep holes are in place to remove water from the patio. The junction where the patio walls and floor meet is vital, and there must be a descent gap space between the wall tile and floor tile to allow enough grout to seal the junction.

Railings and pipes drilled into the top of the patio walls must be sealed.

Why a V-joint

V-joint is a channel +- 10 - 12mm deep and +- 4 - 5mm thick cut into the new plaster on the DPC (Damp proofing course) line. This channel prevents rising damp going any higher on the exterior walls plaster preventing rising damp from pushing laterally into the interior walls plaster.
