Don’t Be Too Sweet to the Wrong People
We all know that sweetness attracts attention. Mangoes, bananas, and apples are naturally sweet—and sometimes, they attract worms. But a lemon is different. Its sharpness gives it protection.
The lesson is not to become bitter or unkind. It is to understand that kindness without boundaries can make us vulnerable. When we give too much of ourselves to people who do not value us, our generosity can be taken for granted, manipulated, or abused.
Being good does not mean saying yes to everyone. Being loving does not mean ignoring disrespect. And being humble does not mean allowing people to repeatedly take advantage of you.
Let your kindness be guided by wisdom. Give freely, but give where there is gratitude. Love people, but do not abandon yourself in the process. Sometimes, protecting your peace requires a firm “no,” a little distance, and the courage to stop being available to the wrong people.
You do not have to lose your sweetness. Just learn when—and for whom—to share it.
