Reflections (Not Every Deal Closes on Your Timeline)
The SOLD sign is up. But that's not the whole story.
I stood outside this house in Elandspark this week, looking at that orange board, and I felt something I don't always allow myself to feel: relief. Deep, tired, grateful relief. Because this sale wasn't just a transaction. It was a journey.
And if I'm honest, it was an emotional one.
There were days I was frustrated. Days I was disappointed. Days I questioned whether we'd get it over the line. The seller was facing their own journeys. The bank, attorneys, and the paperwork all seemed to be pulling in different directions.
And me? I had to learn when to push and when to pause. When to chase and when to breathe. When to fight for my client and when to just be human with them.
The biggest lesson? Emotional stop-gaps.
We talk a lot about stop-gaps in property, financial ones, legal ones, compliance ones. But nobody talks about the emotional stop-gaps. Those moments when you have to catch yourself before you react. Before you send that frustrated text. Before you let the pressure of a deal make you forget the person on the other side.
I didn't always get it right. I had days where my patience wore thin. Where I wanted to vent. Where I felt like I was carrying more than I should.
But I learned that the deal will close when it's meant to close. Not when I force it. And in the waiting, the most important thing I could offer wasn't answers it was presence.
Faith kept me grounded through this one. And so did the simple reminder that behind every file, every offer, every rejected document, there's a human being doing their best.
To the sellers out there feeling overwhelmed: you're not alone. To the buyers feeling anxious: it's okay to be cautious. And to my fellow agents: don't let the pressure steal your heart. The deal matters. But so does your peace.
This one took a lot out of me. But it gave me something back too.
SOLD. And I'm smiling like a proud uncle. 🏡🔑
