City of Brockville Culvert Drainage Design Survey - Brockville, ON

Every great project starts with good data. 🌊📐

IBW Surveyors has completed a topographic survey of three culvert crossings for the City of Brockville. The survey will assist in the drainage design and hydraulic modeling of the municipal infrastructure improvements.

Our teams worked in multiple culvert locations and under various ground conditions to capture creek banks, culvert coordinates and elevations, as well as all applicable topo features on each worksite. By using surveying and mapping tools such as GNSS, robotic total station, and scanning technology, IBW was able to collect the best possible data for each crossing and the surrounding area.

The collected data will provide the City with the information necessary to make educated decisions regarding their drainage improvement project.

When challenging site conditions make traditional inspections difficult, technology makes the difference.

For this project in Toronto, winter conditions, steep terrain, and limited site access made traditional inspections both difficult and potentially hazardous. IBW Surveyors used terrestrial LiDAR scanning to create a highly accurate colorized point cloud of the existing gabion wall, allowing engineers to assess its condition safely, efficiently, and with confidence.

By combining advanced reality capture technology with professional survey control, we delivered the detailed data needed to support informed maintenance and rehabilitation decisions while minimizing field exposure in a challenging creek-side environment.

Tribute Communities Centre - Oshawa, ON

Every successful project begins with surveying.

IBW Surveyors just finished a Plan of Survey Showing Topography of Tribute Communities Centre for the city of Oshawa, giving them the accurate data needed for upcoming engineering, planning, and infrastructure projects.

While working around an active community center and entertainment facility, we were able to capture all of the site's intricate details of the site's roadways, grades, and legal boundaries. By utilizing surveying and mapping technologies such as Trimble SX12 Scanning Total Station, NavVis mobile mapping, and more, we were able to ensure accuracy while limiting the impact on day-to-day operations.

This survey serves as an excellent foundation for the future of the local area, providing a reliable reference guide for years to come.

🎢 What a day to remember! This past Saturday, the IBW Surveyors family headed to Canada's Wonderland and it did not disappoint.

We were honoured to be invited by the Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) to present at their Annual Engineering Meeting alongside industry professionals from across Ontario.

Our presentation, Survey Data Capture Methods for Hydraulic Analysis, showcased how IBW Surveyors supports engineering, environmental, and infrastructure projects through advanced survey technologies, including hydrographic surveying, sonar, unmanned surface vessels (USVs), LiDAR, drone mapping, and reality capture solutions.

Following the presentation, attendees joined us at a nearby hydraulic assessment project where our team conducted a live demonstration of our bathymetric USV and sonar equipment. The field demonstration provided an opportunity to showcase real-world hydrographic data collection methods and how these technologies support hydraulic analysis, infrastructure assessments, and water resource projects.

We are grateful to MNR for the invitation and the opportunity to share knowledge, collaborate with industry peers, and demonstrate the innovative technologies helping shape the future of geomatics and engineering.
