Tamara started building custom homes while working at a real estate company, and met her business partner Andrew Watson, a renovator, in 1995. “He was working for another company that was doing the same old, same old.” The couple realized that they could do things better. Combining their know-how to start Whitestone Developments, they built their first home together in 1996. Many of the green practices Whitestone was implementing a decade ago are now par for the course with most new homes today. All aspects of the building process – from location, eco-friendly building materials, energy-efficient designs through to customization suited to homeowners today and in their personal futures – are carefully calculated and delivered with the environment in mind, including the use of environmental best practices during construction. And Tamara ensures that she learns and gets even better with each of the 30-40 multiple award-winning homes the company builds annually.
